Everything researchers and hobbyists typically look for alongside peptide work — reconstitution, injection, storage, cleaning, sharps disposal, travel, and further reading. Nothing on this page is a peptide; these are the ancillary supplies that actually get used.

💧 Reconstitution & mixing

Water, solvents and glassware used to dissolve lyophilised peptides before any injection work.

Bacteriostatic water (30 ml vial)

0.9% benzyl-alcohol water, the default diluent for reconstituting lyophilised peptides. The most searched-for supply in the whole hobby.

NaCl

Sterile saline (0.9% NaCl)

Preservative-free saline used when benzyl alcohol is unsuitable. Often preferred for single-use reconstitution in lab settings.

Empty sterile mixing vials (10 ml)

Glass vials with rubber stopper and crimp seal — used to hold reconstituted solutions or pre-mixed research stocks.

Vial adapters & transfer needles

Needle-free spike adapters that make transferring diluent into the peptide vial cleaner and faster than syringe poking.

💉 Injection supplies

Ultra-fine insulin syringes in the sizes most researchers use, plus alternative needle formats.

BD Ultra-Fine insulin syringes 0.3 ml / 31G

The workhorse for sub-100 iu subcutaneous volumes. Smallest gauge, minimal skin trauma.

Insulin syringes 0.5 ml / 30G

For slightly larger reconstitution volumes where the 0.3 ml barrel is too small.

Insulin syringes 1 ml / 29G

Full-unit barrel for larger reconstitution transfers; common for GLP-1 agonists and bigger doses.

Drawing-up needles (18G / 21G)

Larger-gauge needles used to draw solution from vials before switching to a fine needle for injection.

🧼 Skin prep & cleaning

The small consumables hobbyists go through fastest: alcohol swabs, gauze, gloves.

70%

Alcohol prep pads (70% isopropyl)

Individually wrapped sterile pads for skin and vial-top cleaning. Buy in boxes of 200 — you'll use more than you think.

CHG 2%

Chlorhexidine skin antiseptic

2% chlorhexidine gluconate solution — longer-lasting antimicrobial than isopropyl alcohol alone.

Nitrile exam gloves (box of 100)

Powder-free, latex-free nitrile gloves in S/M/L/XL. Basic lab hygiene and keeps hand oils off vials.

Sterile gauze pads (2" x 2")

Basic gauze for post-injection pressure. Buy the individually wrapped sterile kind, not cotton balls.

⚠️ Sharps disposal & safety

Dispose of used needles properly. Household trash is never the right answer.

!

1-Quart sharps container (red, FDA-cleared)

The standard small puncture-proof container for used insulin syringes. Sits on a desk or in a drawer.

Travel-size sharps container (0.5 L)

Pocket-sized sharps disposal for trips — clips shut so nothing rattles out in a bag.

Biohazard waste bags

Red autoclavable biohazard bags for used gauze, alcohol pads, and wrappers. Not for sharps.

Needle clipper / destroyer

Small pocket tool that safely clips the needle off an insulin syringe before disposal.

🧊 Storage

Fridges, freezers, and organising boxes to keep vials at the right temperature and in one place.

Skincare mini fridge (4 L)

Dedicated 2–8 °C fridge for reconstituted peptide vials. Keeps them separate from food. Bestseller category on Amazon.

Vial freezer storage box (81-well)

Cardboard or polypropylene cryo box with a grid insert. Keeps lyophilised stock organised in the freezer.

Digital min-max fridge thermometer

Cheap probe thermometer that logs the lowest and highest temperature your fridge actually hits. Essential if you're paranoid.

Light-blocking vial storage tin

Opaque tin with foam insert for peptides that are photosensitive. Also doubles as a discreet desk box.

🧳 Travel & cold chain

Insulated cases and ice packs to keep vials at refrigerator temperature while on the move.

Insulated insulin travel case (FRIO-style)

Evaporative cooling wallet that keeps vials below 26 °C for 45+ hours without a fridge. Classic diabetes-gear crossover.

Gel ice packs (long-freeze)

Thin, flat gel packs that slide into insulated cases. Stay cold for 12+ hours — longer than standard hard ice packs.

USB-powered portable mini cooler

12 V / USB thermoelectric cooler for long journeys where a FRIO wallet isn't enough. Plugs into a car or power bank.

TSA-compliant medical supply pouch

Clear zip pouch labelled "medical supplies" — makes airport security a non-event when carrying syringes and vials.

⚖️ Precision & measurement

Tools that take the guesswork out of dose calculations and small-volume work.

0.125g

Milligram jewellery scale (0.001 g)

Precision scale for weighing lyophilised stock when working from bulk powder. 20 g capacity, 1 mg readout.

Adjustable-volume micropipette (10–100 µL)

Single-channel micropipette for accurate small-volume transfers. Compatible with standard 200 µL tips.

Pipette tip refills (200 µL, sterile)

Sterile filter tips in boxed racks. Pair with the micropipette above.

Printed peptide dosing reference card

Laminated quick-reference card with reconstitution / volume / unit conversions for the common peptides.

📚 Books & further reading

The most commonly cited practical texts on therapeutic peptides and adjacent endocrinology.

Peptide Protocols Vol. 1 — Dr. William Seeds

The most-cited practical reference book on therapeutic peptides, written by a physician active in the field.

The Peptide Handbook (3rd ed.)

Broader textbook covering peptide chemistry, stability, pharmacokinetics and clinical application.

Drugs and the Pharmaceutical Sciences: Peptide & Protein Delivery

Academic primer on how peptides are formulated, stabilised and delivered through skin, nasal and injectable routes.

Williams Textbook of Endocrinology

Gold-standard endocrinology textbook. Useful background for GH, IGF-1, GLP-1 and HPG-axis peptides discussed on this site.

🌿 General health supplements

Not peptides, but the nutrition basics that researchers and readers often ask about alongside peptide questions. All via iHerb, Amazon and Bol.com.

Vitamin D3 (5000 IU) + K2

Pairs well with everything else. iHerb's own brand and Now Foods are the usual top-sellers.

Omega-3 EPA/DHA fish oil

2–3 g EPA+DHA daily. Nordic Naturals and Carlson are the reference brands on iHerb.

Magnesium glycinate (400 mg)

Well-absorbed magnesium form used for sleep and recovery. Doctor's Best and Pure Encapsulations are the iHerb standards.

CREA

Creatine monohydrate (micronised)

The single most-studied sports-nutrition supplement. 5 g daily. Bulk tubs from Optimum Nutrition or Creapure are cheapest.
